Medical Program

All volunteer physicians and nurses should plan to arrive on the Sunday afternoon of their assignment and stay through 8:00am the following Sunday.

For Nurses or EMTs interested in working for the whole summer please see the Intern Program page.

"The camp physician program is an amazing opportunity to play a role in the lives of young adults during what is often a pivotal week in their spiritual journey. My family has loved the time we spend together at Crooked Creek Ranch — the facilities are fantastic!" — Dr. Jon Kary, Westminster, CO

Summer Camp Doctor

Doctors must work in one of the following fields to serve at Crooked Creek Ranch: cardiology, emergency medicine, family practice, general practice, general surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics.

Each week during the summer at Crooked Creek, more than 400 high school kids load up and head to the mountains of Colorado for the best week of their lives. To provide the best possible care, we need physicians to help us meet the medical needs of the campers and summer volunteers at camp.

All camp doctors and their families stay at camp during the week of service in amazing accommodations at no cost.

Summer Nurse

Nurses serve in a volunteer capacity for a week or more at a time. We can accept any level of nurse licensing or a physician's assistant to serve in this role. Nurses and their families of 4 stay on camp for no cost during their week of service. For Nurses or EMTs interested in working for the whole summer, please see the Intern Program page.

School Season Opportunities

We are also in need of medical providers for camps during the school season months at Crooked Creek. These camps are shorter (usually over a weekend), quieter and more relaxing than summer camping. Contact us if you are interested in this opportunity.

What will I do?

The week will be busy — more like a mission trip than a vacation! But we’ll do our best to get you relaxing with your family by the pool. Physician services take the nature of a screening function. The physician assists the other camp medical personnel in deciding the course of action in emergency situations, including deciding which patients need to be transferred to the local medical facility.

The physician must also adequately document the medical record to reflect the care provided.

At no time should any physician practice medicine that falls outside of his or her medical license and level of experience and training.

What about my family?

Your spouse and children, ages 17 and younger, are invited to share the week with you. Whether it’s enjoying meals together, swimming in the pool, or watching Young Life summer camp in action — you are sure to have a great time. Time and space permitting, your family will have an opportunity to experience the many activities around camp. The pool and gym are always available during free time.
